Pakistani-born Jamshed Masroor moved to Norway in 1974. His first collection of poems “Shakh-e-Manzar” was published in Pakistan in 1989, followed by “Oceans of moments” published in Norway in 1994 – that gained him the title “Best Urdu Poet in Europe”. The City of Oslo has on several occasions awarded him prices for his writings.
Safaa Al-Saadi, born in Iraq in 1973, is a composer and multi-instrumentalist, based in Oslo. His music is deeply rooted in tradtions from Mesopotamia. The use of Nay (reed flute), Darbuka, Rak, Kishbeh (drums/percussion) and violins – typically in use in Arabic music – in combination with Western instruments has resulted in a powerful and innovative sound.
