Feature artist 03.04: Symphy’o

Improvisation meets pop and pop meets jazz by composer Elvira Seger. Musicians from all around Sweden met in the north of Sweden at the university of music in Piteå. With two lead vocals, two drummers, bass, piano, guitar and saxophone they create music with the elements of jazz, pop, gospel and rock.

Elvira Seger – saxophone/clarinet/composer
Simon Jämtgård – bass
Olimpia Olsson – piano
Johan Berggren – guitar
Rebecca Lundin – vocal
Johanna Muntlin – vocal
Jonas Zeidlitz – drums
Pierre Nilsson – drums

Becaye Aw (vocal & guitar)

(EN) Oslo-based artist Becaye Aw is a prominent figure on the contemporary world and crossover music scene, widely known for his own developed guitar style and tuning resulting in a sound similar to the traditional African instrument Kora. Raised in Mauritania and Senegal, his music is deeply rooted in the Fulani traditions present across Sub-Sahara. Becaye began his musical career in Senegal, playing with musicians such as Mansuur Seck, Ali Farka Toure and Baaba Maal. He has since collaborated with a large number of artists, among those: Ablaye Cissoko, Women’s Voice, Kouame Sereba, Steinar Ofsdal, King Ibu, Olav Torget, Unni Løvlid, Haddy N’jie and Rolf-Erik Nystrøm. Becaye has released two solo albums: “Sibi” (2009) and “Off Road” (2016) based on a piece he wrote that was commissioned by Global Oslo Music in 2013.
